Progress. And deliberate regress.
May. 15th, 2014 08:46 pmAs of noon today, Emily is ABG- all but graduated. She turned in her thesis film on time (well, slightly after on-time; she tried to turn it in a half-hour before the noon deadline, but was locked out until early afternoon. And the website for upload screwed up her aspect ratio, but I think she's fixed it.)
So she's done with her degree, for all intents and purposes. Her film will be screened at RIT late on Tuesday afternoon. It was supposed to be scheduled for screening on Saturday, but apparently she missed a deadline earlier in the morning for seniors to claim priority times, and a bunch of freshmen filled up the weekend. That's okay, though; she can use the few extra days of decompression, and both Eleanor and I are free after 2:00 or so on Tuesday to get there.
Next Thursday will be my travel day to ensure my sister gets to campus for the Friday events, and we will then spend most of the 23rd celebrating four, 22 and 112 years (comment and I'll explain that math) of getting us to this accomplishment.
----
The other odd news of the day was LJ's decision to foist an unannounced major change on us. The user interface is now very different, and very blue and white (kin yew say Facebook?). When you first see it, you will be given an option to opt out of it. Unless you like New Things, I suggest you do so, at least for now- because once you get past the first opt-out screen, your LJ name will be bound to the new format (even on computers differing from the one you encountered it on), and you will have to learn to live with it. As I am; hence, this entry:)
