A day full of stuff
Nov. 21st, 2013 09:31 pmIt began, once on and off the Rochester road, with me calling a local client there. My first question wasn't about business but, rather, was about this:

That was the plaque outside the examination room in the Rochester hospital ER where Emily was taken on Saturday night. It also happens to be the same last name as the selfsame client, who called me back while I was sitting in my rental outside their apartment, waiting for Em to wake up and for Cameron to get back with their (formerly my) car. So my first question had to be, simply: Are you related to a Davide and Ida Fallone?
Why, yes, of course he is. Because this is Western New York, where this shit happens all the time.
Moments later, Emily called from inside and Cam, almost immediately, pulled up next to me, as well. I brought in a much-needed Care package of foodage from Mom, went over accident paperwork with them, and generally made sure they're still okay. I think they are:)
----
Then it was off to a series of client appointments, a mix of frustrating and promising. Most frustrating was the final one- a conference call on a federal case where the US Attorney for Syracuse/Albany insisted that my client file an obscure form of claim in an obscure form of case they'd filed; our call today essentially consisted of the government telling me, and a good dozen other parties, um, sorry, but we need you to withdraw those claims in order for you to get paid. I vaguely understand the reasoning behind the request, but sheesh- it would've been easier for all concerned if they'd connected those dots sometime in October:P
----
Tomorrow, I should nail down the total loss figure on the crushed car, and maybe finalize the replacement purchase. Other than those chores, I have nothing on the docket. I need a day like that right about now.
