I got roughly diddly and a half-squat of work done today. Not unexpected, given what happened over the weekend. We all slept a little better, but there are still deficits.  Most of my day was devoted to reporting and communicating and planning as a result of the weekend's Blowed Up Real Hood (and Trunk) experience in Rochester.

You want to see?

This is the shot I got, holding the phone over the fencing-in of the impound pen, of what the front end looked like post-crash:

I couldn't get around to the back when they were closed, but Emily got this, um, rear view shot when they went to claim their things earlier today:

Cameron did find his glasses in there, mostly in okay shape- along with their EZPass, her parking hangtag, the stupid battery charger (dented but still serviceable) and a few other personal items.  One of the two license plates bit it, probably buried in the wreckage either fore or aft of Janis (yes, she did name that car- after J. Joplin and/or Janis from the Dr. Teeth Muppet band).

By the time they got there, the totalling sentence had already been pronounced.  Not long after that second picture, Janis was dispatched to the salvage yard where she will be turned into a rather large paperweight, and our insurance company will send us something for our time, trouble and premiums.  Meanwhile, I arranged my rental (a black Chrysler 200- I feel like a Mafioso driving dat ting), which I can keep for roughly a week- until the formal Date of Death on Janis's title certificate plus five days thereafter.  I've got our Smart car salesperson looking for things for me- even if it's not another of theirs, she has access to other databases plus their own accepted trades, and she's the only automotive-type we know, much less like, right now. Plus, even if we find something through a private party, she'll Carfax it for us for free- because we're already part of the Smart family:)

All of that is way too much to process right now on top of all of the past 48 hours (72 for Eleanor, if you follow her posts), but we'll get there. We always do. Not without the occasional bump, bruise or even crash, but we do:)
