Been catching up at stuff on my desk from having had appointments, court, or both each of the past four days- and I've got another at 4-ish this afternoon. I hate doing that monkey suit thing every goddam day.

I got out of a Rochester trip I really wasn't looking forward to. Monday, probably, for that.

We're still waiting on the latest thumbing, up or down, of our refi. Now it's near certain it won't get done this calendar year, and we'll be at the mercy of the Fiscal Cliffers.

You know- these guys:

That about covers it.

Oh, just one more thing.

I WON NANO!!!!!!!

The story ended, on its own terms, at around 48,500 words. So I decided to do a "where are they now" section ending it, which not only ate up almost all of the shortfall (a few extra grafs got added here and there for that), but was the most fun and, at the end-end, I think the best writing I had in the whole thing.  I got it to an exact 50K on my own counter, then ran it through their verifier, which, they warned, could be as much as 1,000 words off for a work of that approximate size:

Not bad for government work.

I will be sending out a request for beta volunteers sometime after the rest of the polls close tonight.  I want to keep it to a few, but if you're interested, comment. I may also set up a link to some entries on my long-dormant NaNo  blog page where I'll say more about what the story's about, who (and what /hint) the characters are, and what I might be doing with this from here.

To the rest of you that are still in the running,
To those of you who have reached your finishing,
Sympathy and caffeination.
So have we done in our time.
