Late-night post Tuesday, photo-only Wednesday, none a-tall yesterday. That's what you get when you're actually hanging out with friends and family three straight nights.
As posted late that first eve, Eleanor and I met up with her brother and Emily at an Indian buffet place near RIT for dinner. We've now done this two years running in lieu of trying to coordinate her retail schedule and Charlie's hospital schedule for some big production holiday meal. Much lower-key, present-free, and very very nice.
Wednesday, I was in town all day, but had assorted client and other appointments to be kept. The day ended with a workout class, which morphed into the gym's annual Christmas party. Cool people all the way around, and nice to get to talk to the people in my group, and some of the others I just see working out there, in a less sweaty setting.
Then, yesterday: lousy day, lovely evening. I'd set my first of two fixed out-of-town appointments for 2 to take some of the pressure off, but I find that any time I do that, the clock just spins like it's on steroids all morning, and before I knew it, it was time to bug out.... for a client who never showed up. That gave me an hour to crank out an addendum to a settlement document I'd been working on (both drafting and trying to catch up with my client) all morning before I left here. The process was frustrating: it took forever to find the right fillable .pdf form in my friend's office, then I couldn't access his internet on my laptop, and finally I found they'd just replaced the "guest" computer on their network with a fancy new Windows 7 model- but which, Lord help us, did not come factory-installed with Adobe Reader. In utter panic as my 3:00 appointment there came close to showing, I handed off my flash drive to one of B's co-workers, who professionally printed my document. The pages come out of the printer from last-to-first, and pages 2 through 4 were fine, but....
( looky looky at what I got for page one: )
I know. "I bet you say that to all the clients."
By the time I finished with the 3:00 people, it was getting late, and quickly got rainier. As in soaked-to-the-skin in a momentary downpour type. I still had to return to my office and hit a liquor store before returning home, and did so within moments of the arrivals of Eleanor and Emily.
Not that one.
The simply lovely one of that name, known here as
ayrshire_of_elm, joined us on one of her last nights in Western New York. She's externing at a nearby veterinary clinic, and we were pleased to have her join us for Eleanor's cooking and (in time) our Emily's company joining us for an evening of food and fun. I was exhaustipated by the time she headed back to her temporary digs, but it was worth every moment:)

Today's workday, likewise a mix of hits, misses and being left on base- but hey. It's the weekend, and the child is into Extreme Decorating at the moment, so it's all good:)
