Pieces fall into place! Film at 11!
Jun. 23rd, 2011 07:27 pmAmazingly, I got All The Things done that had to be done before I can hit the road tomorrow. There's one last set of court hearings, but those are on my way to Points South, and by this time tomorrow, I'll have made it past Pittsburgh, into and possibly out of West By God Virginia, and at our dear Kimmy's new, if equally humble, abode before Cinderella time on Saturday. The return Sunday is via I-81 (the VA part likely being early afternoon, with a detour for lumps in Bawlmer), and I'll be back in what I pray will be a much more egalitarian home state by late in the day on Monday.
Those of you meeting up with Kim, and a few others who've called or emailed, know this already. (Blacksburg looks like an early Sunday afternoon, Bawlmer by late that day). If you don't, and are anywhere in PA/WV/VA/NC on the way down or VA/MD/DE/PA on the way back, I'd love to at least find a cuppa within a few miles of ya.
----
Then, three weekends following, things harmonically converged just about as neatly.
I'm taking my act on the road to Broadway! Well, the Bowling Green Courthouse, which if I remember rightly is at the foot of the G.W.W. A city-based relative of a mutual client needed a bankruptcy filed, and she seemed nice, and within my ability to file for her directly (I'm admitted in the bankruptcy court covering Manhattan, although I'd never filed a debtor case there before), so I did so. Yesterday, notice of the hearing date came through: Monday July 18th, which just happens to be the first workday after my pilgrimage to The Parking Lot Formerly Known As Shea Stadium, on Saturday the 16th. It will also (we hope) be the premiere of Teh Book, with Dana's family getting their copies and all of us exchanging stories and autographs.
By making it two... two... two trips in one, I can afford to spend more quality time right before the Monday hearing. I've got Sunday morning scoped out to visit Very Old Friends near my Lawn Guyland roots; by Sunday evening, I am planning to meet up, probably for the first time evah, with our dear friend (and Teh Book's even better friend)
firynze; it's a detour, to be sure, but nothing near what even half the trip would usually take to see her and bird in person. From there, I just need to get to my usual Metro North station by 9 a.m. in time to catch the train into Grand Central. Then it should be home in a bit over five hours:) Here, too, that Sunday (and a little late Monday afternoon in Manhattan) are good times for good times, for anyone who's round there then.
So choose your time and station:)
