No, that's not what you get when the Hanson brothers go to medical school. It's what you've gotten here, nearly every day, for the past seven years:
Once again, Gods and numerologists had at it, and made it possible for this 7th anniversary entry of this journal to also be the 3500th since that fateful beginning-blogging day. (I've previously nailed 1000th, 2900th and, memorably, my 1903rd on this date.)
Making it especially tricky this year was realizing a few weeks ago: Hey! I've posted something every day this year! So I couldn't cook the numbers if I got too spammy in March by skipping a day here and there. So for the past week and change, I've had to post once a day, but only once a day, to make it all work out.
Not too OCD here, huh?
I've kept it up despite the defections of many longtime peeps from regular postings and commentings here. Some have just fallen off in general; others, gone off to the 419 and/or up Route 140 for their daily dissertations. #whatisahashtaganyway?
It's sad waking up, more often than not, to less than a handful of new friends' posts, many of them just twitterfeeds or community links. I miss the ones who've left, but I welcome the several who've found my words, and/or Eleanor's, in recent weeks.
Now that she has become a regular at this as well, so many of you have become even bigger parts of our lives, and conversations, and even prayers from time to time. We talk about Kate and Katie and Jeff-and-Alexis and Bill as if you were in the next room. Which, of course, you are, even if your actual feet aren't. Our hope is that in coming months, we'll make those connections for the first time with at least some of you.
Until then, I'll just end with one final word- another happy by-product of being here in this past, rather lucky, seventh year:
