Yeah, three days out in Life. Which is what happens when you're busy making Plans (and accompanying Disclosure Statements, in my case).

Lots of those hours were spent in the car, with little else to listen to but assorted Wingnutistanis raving about all things Obama. They were especially peeved today by his Arizona State commencement address, where he had the nerve to call upon the Class of 2009 to aspire to something beyond rampant materialism. Don't die with the most toys or strive so hard for the corner office. Think of others, not just yourself.

My biggest complaint about this pitch is it's probably the most overdone commencement address ever, but to the neocons, it was a declaration of war. One local commentator likened it to a communistic sentiment so vile that the Castro brothers could've presented it.

Funny thing, though. This "right wing" we hear so much about, which has a "religious right" element to it? Seems to me that their ostensible inspiration (who I kinda like myself, but in a liberal kinda way) said a lot of the same things. "If you have two coats, give your brother one." "Do not store up riches for yourselves here on earth, where moths and rust destroy, and robbers break in and steal. Instead, store up riches for yourself in heaven."  Et cetera et cetera et cetera.

We must be taking those lines out of context. Jesus certainly would've wanted His words used primarily to justify greed, curse the downtrodden, and hate Jews and Muslims in His name. At least you'd think that based on the past 1,900-plus years of history.
