It's empty right now. Like most beautiful gardens before planted.

As we expected would happen, Wegmans has cut Eleanor's hours back a bit post-holiday. Any number of outcomes obtain from this, but mainly:

* She could wind up working just as many hours as she's been working, and make more money doing so, since the company offers a modest premium pay rate for any shifts she picks up on account of another worker calling in sick. She did exactly that a number of times in December, and her willingness to do so did not go unnoticed.

* Or, she could wind up with fewer hours, and toward that end, she said to me, before leaving for work this morning after reading a couple of entries (and your comments thereon), "I think maybe I want to start a blog. How do I do that?"

Here's how:

(1) You claim the name plantmom (which I was as surprised to find available as I was to find, almost five years ago, that this name was);

(2) You look through your photo galleries for one of the many gorgeous shots you've taken of flowers, and eventually settle on this one as your first userpic:



(3) You choose a page layout which is very similar to one that your husband was thinking about changing over to, as a garden-tending effort of his own (don't worry, there's lots more I've still got to pick from).

(4) You go to work and post later, possibly after already being Friended and linked-to by a bunch of people.
