Plus, if you act now....
Nov. 3rd, 2007 12:00 pmI just finished a bad (for results) but good (for memories) search of the Eternal Record Collection here, to see if we had any covers of the ol' Celtic classic that is The Skye Boat Song. In doing that, I likened the hundreds of eclectic discs we do have to a bit that Robert Klein did, back in the day, titled "Every Record Ever Recorded!"
The damnazon.com clip comes in at the end, but it gives you a good taste of what's on there:
From the same people who brought you Songs Beginning With the Letter P!
I'm gonna wind up getting all three of his principal works- Mind over Matter for that one and his riff on the National Anthem, which I still sing at Met games ("As we stand here waiiiitinnnng, FOR the ballgame to starrrrt...."); New Teeth, for its sort-of title track and the evil riff on Young Peoples' Guide to the Orchestra; and his original, Child of the 50s, the only one I actually owned in vinyl. There's no one on there I especially recommend, but I do think of the "Civil Defense" one virtually every Sunday when I'm in church at noon, because, to this day as they did when I (and apparently he) lived through the Cold War, the Fire Department fires off an air-raid siren every day at 12 o'clock. The clip cuts about before the best line, though:
But what if the Russians BOMBED at twelve o'clock? They're no fools- "Ve bomb at tvelve o'clock, Ivan, they don't know, they think it's lunch."
Or in our case, communion.

I have to watch ethics videos this afternoon so I can turn in my law license renewal before my birthday. Someone wake me when they're over.
