Eleanor baked bread over the weekend. It came out a little funny lookin'- with enough of a mouth to need an eye or two....

Okay, one. I knew he looked like one of the mid-70s Muppets from the first year of Saturday Night Live, but I couldn't remember the name, just that Frank Oz did the voice. And the internet spake:

The Mighty Favog! (Not Chevy Chase, the one on his right.)
It was harder to find actual video from the show; Lorne Michaels does a thorough job of scrubbing Youtube and similar sites of anything potentially viral from anything other than the NBC-authorized (with limited commercial interruptions:P) home for such things. But for today, at least, one Vimeo has slipped through! (Link here if the embed doesn't work.)
So, yeah. We've been having him for breakfast the past few days:)

Then there's the new Muppets film. Honestly, we haven't been in a mad rush to run out and see it. There's just a little too much tinge of hyped-up commercialism about the latest Disneyfied workings of the franchise. And many are missing from this one, even more than were missing from the return film a few years back: Frank Oz is again MIA, as is Jason Segel this time, the lifelong fan of the franchise who co-wrote the reboot. But the permanent absences also keep accumulating: we've buried two more Hensons (his longtime wife Jane and, more recently, their son John, who performed Sweetums back in the day) and longtime Muppeteer Jerry Nelson since the last film came out.
Sure, there are new generations of talent, and Jim's imagination will always live on. But I can't live in a world where Yoda, and Fozzie, and even the Mighty Favog don't, at least occasionally, funny talk because have they hand butt up ass Frank's their.
