captainsblogThe worst of the weather, for one. Today's nasty storm was a coastal thing, and while it was-is- plenty cold here, it's not the wind and snowbomb of this time two weeks ago and we're sympathizing with those of you who are digging out of it.
Football championship games, for another. Buffalo's last appearance was in Super Bowl XVIII, and we've added XX to that count since then, or we will by the time XLVII comes to where Jimmy Hoffa is a week from this coming Sunday. No Bills will be there, obviously, but one proud Western New Yorker will:
Renee Fleming, from the Rochester suburb of Churchville, will be singing the national anthem at the game- the first classical musician to do so. I like the choice- since I'm sure her idea of a "wardrobe malfunction" is "stepping on the hem of her gown."
No word on whether she'll be joining Bruno Mars or Flea during the halftime show. "Calfermatacation" might be an acceptable compromise.
