Post-Holiday/ Post-Doctor Post
Dec. 27th, 2013 09:19 pmBy far the sweetest moment of the whole wholiday for us was seeing the joy on Emily's face when she opened the copy of the Hyperbole and a Half book I got for her. She made it even more joyful for all of us when she turned immediately to the "PARP!" story in it and introduced Cameron to it; seeing his response to it made it even more special for all of us:)
Twenty-four hours or so later, we'd taken our Time of the Doctor; say what you will about Matt Smith's reign, he went out with class, with poignancy and with a lasting appreciation of what his three-ish years meant to all of us. And cheers, as well as tears, for bringing back Amy for that final go before Twelve (or whatever we're gonna call him) made his debut. The transition was quick and rather fun; now there's just the minor matter of the eight-month wait before we see where he's going to take us from here.
Work today was mostly annoying, but I got a well-deserved thanks for persistence and promptness, so I've got that going for me, which is nice. I'm about ready to close out the year, with everything paid that needs to be as of today and with funds already available to get us through the first half of January.
Still undecided about a year-end post, but if I had to capsulate it in a word, it would be "content." Em-phay-sis on the second sy-lab-ble.
