'Twas the Night before Christmas Eve, Sabres and 'Yotes-
A night that would soon produce heroes and goats
A kid from the Amerks- called up just that day-
Would score the game-winner in a butt-ugly way!

The goals were all even, the game in OT,
But this night a shootout was not meant to be
It was Mike facing Mark in a moment in time
-And the puck wound up near where the sun doesn't shine.

The kid gained the line and the goalkeeper said,
"I'll come out of my crease and poke-check his fat head!"
So Pysyk just shot- as a shooter just does-
And nobody knew where the hockey puck was!

We're watching the replay, and Rob Ray just rants,
"Hey watch this- it fell down on top of his pants!"
Then we watch as the goalie backs into his station
And the puck goes in with him, to the Sabres' elation!




We sounded the goal horn to give them the cue
But the ref simply said it was "under review"
Yet he quickly confirmed it, with a raise of his arm- and
The Sabres had pulled this one out of the Charmin!

(I am so sorry for that.)

So I'll leave it to RJ to pronounce the last rhyme:
"And the Sabres win it in ooooooooooverrrrrrrrtimmmmmmme!"
