The new(er) car arrived at the car rental/resale place today-



I missed a memo somewhere- this, also, is a 2010, also just off-lease from a single owner, but it's got just over 40K miles on it (the seller warranty is the same, though- 12 months/12K). It doesn't have everything- cruise, for one, is missing- but the speedometer on it is digital and very inna-u-face, so it's not that big a deal. 

Its hybriditity is a bigger deal than even on Iggy, though- it displays graphics showing when it's using gas, using the hybrid battery, and/or charging the battery- and after each ride it gives you an Eco-score. I got a 4 on the way back from the test drive;)

All in all, it was good enough for me, so I put down a deposit and will now wait for the collision check to seal the deal; hopefully, either Friday or Monday. We have the rental through Monday anyway, and given the imminent OMGSNOWPOCALYPSE they're promising for tomorrow (CNN even sent their weather guy here today), I'll let the Mafia Staff Car take the brunt of it tomorrow;)

That left a name. We've gone sequentially through the alphabet through our married life: Bessie, Claire, Cruela (de Bonneville), Dorothy, Elsinore, Frankie (later renamed Gomer, totally without authorisation;), Goldie, Heshie (my current Focus, now the kids'), Iggy, and, posthumously, Janis the dead Chevy. So we're up to K- and Eleanor nailed it. For although the car is grey on the outside, in his heart he's green. And so,....

One of the reasons I love you guys is that you're not afraid to anthropomorphize your vehicles. The cars of our relationship have been The Antichrist, after the unkillable Range Rover of The Gods Must Be Crazy; Lucy, the first new vehicle we bought together; Thor (Heyerdahl), the Honda Element that we got rid of after only two years due to a persistent annoying high-pitched whine on the right side; and our current transport of delight, the Black Pearl.
