captainsblogIt came late in the day, but it was much appreciated (you'll see what I did there) news:
Our insurance company has settled our collision claim for close to $3,200.00. As in more than (or less) twice what I paid for the car three summers ago.
I know why this is. Cash for Clunkers took a lot of used cars off the road, and those which remain are just plain worth more now. Plus, they're required to pay retail, not trade-in value, and they have to include the sales tax, since the replacement car will also have that added to the tab.
It took so long to get to this late today, we lost the Leading Contendah I'd driven (and liked) to another buyer, but they have a newer, higher-miled but slightly cheaper clone of it I will look at, and drive home, tomorrow. If we likee, it will be ours by early next week, and the payment will be within 10 bucks and the term exactly what I wanted it to be.
Meanwhile, I'll milk the rental for the promised heavy-weather day on Wednesday, when we will gather together with Em and Cam and her former roomie (after detouring to drop off Janis's title at the salvage yard and paying our last respects to the car wot saved their lives). I'll also do some repairs on my once and former car that Emily has asked for, because, with that kind of settlement, we can:)
