Not so Smart after all....

captainsblogThe first Sunday in November, now, is the dreaded weekend where we get an "extra hour" of sleep. This got pushed back sometime during the Dubya Administration from its previous changeover in late October, to save energy enable the high-fructose sugar lobby to get an extra hour of trick-or-treating in on Halloween night. In practice, it means not an "extra hour" but an "earlier hour" of wakey uppy by the animals who, you know, can't tell time.
So I was up at 4 rather than 5, fed their arses at something like 05-something, and spent some of the intervening minutes resetting the relatively few clocks in the house that don't update on their own (the microwave, the wall clock, the setback thermostat and the plant light on timer all need goosing; the cable box, DVD player and computers/tablets all update themselves).
I did expect that the garage would be a 50/50 proposition: that my 2005-ish car would need its clock manually updated, but that Iggy, which is Smarter than your honor student, would just naturally know.
"Know," however, is a homonym for "no." For Eleanor reported that he did not make such an autoadjust, and she had to resort to study of his seven manuals to get his time back in line. Probably because Europeans don't mess with such time changes on the same shedule as we do, dontcha know....

Our entertainment for the late afternoon/early evening was a DVD called The Sapphires, a based-on-a-true-story about an Aboriginal Australian girl group that became famous in the late 1960s. The music, the acting, and the story all resonated with us.
Its Region 1 DVD cover art? Not so much:P

Bills lost respectably. Sabres continue to lose depressingly. Maybe neither of THEM really know what time it is, either:P
