Prep School
Aug. 12th, 2021 09:04 pmWe occasionally wish less than good karma on people using this scene from Orphan Black:

Well, that becomes more literal when you get old enough for regular colonoscopies. In our own unique version of a His and Hers Spa Visit, ours are scheduled about a month apart, and Eleanor's is tomorrow. That means she's been shitting and getting off the pot all day since 3 p.m. Tomorrow morning, I drive her to the surgery place where it'll be Here's Lookin' at YOU, Kid! for an hour or so after the drugs kick in. I also drop off my own paperwork for Round Two, four weeks from tomorrow, only earlier in the day.
She's handling it pretty well. I even caught her in the garage in her Vader getup, cutting tiles in between, well, cutting cheese. We watched a very good but sad film after (my) dinner, and are turning in early to, um, prep for the journey tomorrow.
Yesterday, we spent a good hour on a Zoom call with a different kind of prep- going over finances with a planner who is trying to help us prepare for retirement. We had some rough moments earlier in the week as we sorted through where some things recently have stood- Refi II, the reno, the endless trail of Broken Things around here- but we made some good progress in understanding and being proactive as we go.
As with other things we're working on, it's not "all clear" yet, but we're getting there;)

I still remember...
Date: 2021-08-14 11:48 am (UTC)My husband is a teetotaler, so this is the only time I've ever seen him "drunk" and it was HI-larious. :D He kept asking me the same questions over and over, claimed he saw 3 of the doctor who came to discharge him, and then didn't remember what the doctor said. We stopped at Big Boy on the way home to pickup dinner and about 5 minutes after we sat down to eat in front of the TV I looked over and he was gently snoring with the burger still in his hand. :D
