I spent way too much time the past two days babbling about things, so we'll keep it simple and visual today. Eleanor was back to work both yesterday and this afternoon, and both days I came home a bit early. I was a little restless after returning yesterday afternoon, so I decided to take a swing at something she's been working on.

Several swings, to be precise:

That's the Bathroom Wall formerly known as Pink. As in the color of the tiles along the base of the floor remaining, next to the open register, at the bottom.  In the preceding days, Eleanor had removed the squares from under the window down to where you see the color change about halfway down. I did the rest in a couple of hours.  The color is different because the gluey detritis from the old tiles has to be scraped off down to the drywall, but that's for this weekend.

I never got into the details of what went down (other than those top rows of tile) before I left for the ballgame the other night. A contractor, sent by the List formerly known as Angie's, had an appointment to check out the work needing to be done with the floor under the toilet. He spent most of the time trying to convince her that she didn't know what we needed. He was trying to upsell a whole new vanity and way more work- and expense- than we had any desire of getting into.  The next afternoon, Eleanor talked to a neighbor who's helped with some repair projects around here in the past. He's semi-laid off from his job right now, and his significant other is going to need to take time off as well because her mother has been having serious health problems. He thinks he can do what we need, and not more, for a lot less and way sooner than any contractor has been willing to commit to if they propose to do anything at all. And I'd rather see our money go to someone who needs and deserves it.

Then, on walkies this morning, we found a Blue Jay that's not hanging out in the downtown ballpark:

Bebbie was just standing on the sidewalk in front of us at first, but as Pepper started sniffing, they hippity hopped onto the lawn, where that video came from.  They were still trying to take flight when we headed home. Our neighbor-friends also rescued one a few weeks back. Must be those overpriced concession offerings downtown that are making them hang out around here;) Or just hung over from Canada Day celebrations last night....

----

Speaking of the latter, happy belated Dominion Day to our friends to the north. Our Fourth is a mostly Fifth this year, although I will have to pop into the office first thing to finish something off that morning. Most bigass fireworks displays are still off this year, not that it's going to stop the neighborhood idjits. Fortunately, they don't seem to bother the dog particularly. And if it gets too loud, there's always more tiles to blow up:P
