The anchor of my day was a Teams meeting for a client couple at 12:30. They were very nervous about it and never got either my calming email or even more calming voicemail until I was already in the office this morning. The state court system went with Teams rather than Zoom, or its pre-Microsoft incarnation of Skype, probably because Bill and Melinda sent a boatload of money to them for the exclusive.
Off topic for a moment, we all have heard by know that the Gates of Wealth are separating after a long mawwiage; we present an exclusive on the moment that finally did them in:

(I showed that to two paralegals in my office; the one my age, who I was sure would get it, didn't; the younger one half her age knew exactly what it meant.)
Today's Microsoft graphic wasn't nearly as funny. Even though I logged into Teams a good 30 minutes early, once a crowd started showing up in the meeting room, I got booted out. Repeatedly. Each time, Teams tried to reload itself with this lovely message-

- but apparently not quick enough, since each time it then threw a YOU NEED TO BE INVITED TO THE MEETING error. After the fourth try, I gave up and just did it by phone, so nobody saw me in suit and tie which I'd put on for the occasion, and nothing ever explained what the crashes were about- unless the mice in the wheel running Teams were just getting scared by this guy in the upper left corner who needs to learn some boundaries:

Dude. I'm gonna have nightmares about your eyebrows tonight.

It also didn't help that my power supply, the one original to this laptop, has been intermittently cutting out. I think I narrowed it to a crimp in the section between the Mickey Mouse connector and the computer itself, but for most of the day at the office, the power was either dropping or at least not recharging, which may have been slowing down performance. The one at home seems fine, so I may switch them out.
I also had to postpone a downtown trip today until Clerk Number Two takes the simple step of entering what it took Clerk Number One almost a month to process but finally did; I had a small claim postponed because the defendant is refusing to sign for certified mail; and the rest of the day was evenly balanced between people calling me out of the blue and other people NOT getting back to me about things I asked them for days or even weeks ago.
Monday, Monday. Can't trust that day.

We can trust our trusty animals, though. Eleanor did the 8:30 a.m. treating of Zoey's eye, and I caught these two standing guard outside the room we're keeping her in:

Patience and Fartitude.

Oh my gosh!
Date: 2021-05-11 10:18 am (UTC)We have our group interviews on Zoom, so I know the pain of people not having a clue about camera etiquette: they keep their camera off (what are you HIDING??) or they have their pets crawling all over them (erm, they're not interviewing--YOU ARE) or they are too LOUD or...Ugh.
AND I got the Clippy joke, too. :D
