And today was even Sunny:)

The first word actually came yesterday from our car insurer. I had to fight through their stupid website to read the email they sent me, because they send everything through password-protected "secure" transmission that's not the same password as the claim and payment website.  I suspected it was a confirmation of the windshield replacement, scheduled for first thing today, but it turned out to be the final resolution of Eleanor's brutal Christmas Eve attack on a Sherman tank in a local parking lot.  This was the one where she nicked the front bumper of a  Dodge Ram 12000000 with her left rear, leaving when she saw not a scratch of damage on it, only to have Santa Cop pay us a visit that night after someone else in the car park narc'd on her about it.  We reported it to our insurance company but made no claim ourselves, and last we heard the other driver hadn't even tried to claim it on our policy, but apparently he did.  They wound up paying close to 600 bucks for what, at most, was a scratch.  Fortunately, it's still below what needs to be reported to DMV, but it will probably result in a Carfax ding on her car.

I pulled her car out to the driveway this morning, and mine into the street, to deal with both the windshield onsite repair but also the scheduled arrival of warranty service on the dryer- the one it took Eleanor hours last week to confirm coverage on while I was out busy getting her windshield smashed.

Dryer dude got there first, while I was out walking the dog.  He confirmed within moments that Eleanor was correct in diagnosing it as a bearing issue- probably one that existed when the thing left the factory. He was done and gone before I even left for work, and the house is now much quieter during the HEAVY-HIGH cycle.

(Speaking of which, one of the poets on Zoom was seriously lit last night. Remind me what's wrong with legalizing and taxing the stuff?)

I then left just as the call from Safelite Stefan came, telling us he was on his way.  Another very quick, thorough and professional job-

- as he got the new glass in right in the driveway and got both state stickers and even the EZ-Pass velcro back in place. (This is also how we were reminded that Alanis's inspection was due at the end of last month. Oops.  The dealer's doing it tomorrow.)

After all this wear and tear on the insurance company, I finally decided it was time to send them their monthly payment, due Sunday.  That blew close to another hour, as their website (with the different password) kept hanging up before I could hit the "submit" button. I finally had to call for them to do it over the phone, but they supposedly saved the account information on the server side so we're hoping we won't have to go through that every month.

One leftover image from yesterday's Rochester trip: they've added a few statues of Frederick Douglass around town, including this one across from the site of one of his most famous speeches in the former Corinthian Hall:

I was just touched that somebody took the time to keep Freddie warm during these ridiculous winter months.  Maybe FPT decided to send them now that he's "being recognized more and more."
