Apparently I got hired part-time after a long day yesterday starting in my office before 9 a.m.

Two phone hearings for two different clients into two different numbers to reach two different trustees, scheduled 30 minutes apart. The first went more quickly and relatively painlessly with the client not even there, but I had to roll right into the second, which the client was there for, and it had a panoply of technical problems with my speaker and some other participant's phone interference and kept me tied up for over an hour, perhaps 10 minutes of which amounted to anything significant.

Eleanor and I were also once again juggling hours when Tom The Mortgage Guy would be calling one or the other of us. He ultimately made it easy by not calling either of us- and once again did so (or didn't) today. I'm going to seek out a new lender with a hopefully more responsive Someone Else's TMG will actually call us back or, heavens forbid, meet with one or both of us.

Eleanor, meanwhile, announced first thing yesterday that she planned to channel her inner Buddha and do a kindness to some friends of ours. Both have had some issues with finances, emotions, who knows what else, so since Eleanor was planning a batch of soup for our dinner that night, she made arrangements to deliver it to both of these friends. One lives several miles west and a bit south of us, the other several miles south of that.  Let's call them West and South, to bridge any gaps in the story.

When I got home from work, there was no sign of her or of extra soup, so I assumed, correctly, she was on her mission.  She arrived home to report that she'd been to West, but that South told her no, I'll come by you.  Except after Eleanor got home, South then texted that ohhh, maybe you coming here is a better idea because, reasons.  It wasn't that much of an extra drive, but I insisted Eleanor take my car, since hers still has the broken windshield that won't get fixed until tomorrow.

She headed out again. I started watching Wandavision (which I think I'm rather loving). Before the thrilling conclusion of the Boss Comes To Dinner Trope episode, my phone rang: my car is stuck in slush on South's side street and could I come help?

As I was heading out to the garage to get shovels and rakes and implements of destruction to help dig it out, she called again- she got him sprung on her own.  But I figured the least I could do was make a much shorter drive in her car to pick up some adult beverages.

I got to the liquor store and saw a HELP WANTED sign on the entry door. I asked the cashier who's become a friend and beloved fellow banterer: So, I've got one question about the ad: is there an employee discount?

After telling her about Eleanor's adventures and showing her the picture of last week's cracked windshield? She gave it to me.  AND replaced our reusable bag with a much nicer one. Now my only question is when do I start.

Paying it forward comes in all shapes, sizes and in this case, Alcohol By Volume percentages.

None of that is the reason for the Assyarmulke icon. This is:

A friend posted that, to a variety of bad cannibalism puns. I did the same, resulting in the likes of these:

Hannibal Esther.

Hamantashen is people! It’s people!

Oy-lent Green.

Well, he's not kosher!” “That depends how we kill him, sir.”

And, in turn, my posting got shared further to produce this crop:

"Our most important ingredient is people."

"How is it?" "It varies from person to person."

Good Food, Good People.

Oy-lent Green from the longtime LJ friend [personal profile] mikailborg seems to have been voted the winner, but om-nom- nominations remain open;)
