I did my first over-a-Zoom-meeting will execution at the end of the day today. Couple of physicians, Dr. Mrs. at UB, Dr. Mr. at KU. She came in to the office, and it took barely longer than it usually does when both spouses are with me. This has been enabled by an executive order from the Guv, which allows the remote procedure with only a few practical limitations (the order referenced in that link has been extended):
-The person requesting that their signature be witnessed, if not personally known to the witness(es), must present valid photo ID to the witness(es) during the video conference, not merely transmit it prior to or after;
-The video conference must allow for direct interaction between the person and the witness(es), and the supervising attorney, if applicable (e.g. no pre-recorded videos of the person signing);
-The witnesses must receive a legible copy of the signature page(s), which may be transmitted via fax or electronic means, on the same date that the pages are signed by the person;
-The witness(es) may sign the transmitted copy of the signature page(s) and transmit the same back to the person; and
-The witness(es) may repeat the witnessing of the original signature page(s) as of the date of execution provided the witness(es) receive such original signature pages together with the electronically witnessed copies within thirty days after the date of execution.
The ID is something I generally do anyway with the notarized documents in the set, and I got the scans before even leaving the office. We could get used to this sort of thing.

Less use-to-it-ful is the idiocy that rained down on the Sabres last weekend.
The NHL is playing a shortened and compressed schedule, with teams often coming in for two or even three game "homestands" over a period of several days. The New Jersey Devils were our weekend visitors, and after the Sabres' Saturday night win, there were apparently reports of COVID trouble on the opposing bench, eventually resulting in two of our better players being put on the restricted list after contact tracing:
New Jersey split games with the Sabres on Saturday and Sunday at KeyBank Center, with the opener played shortly after the news that veteran center Travis Zajac had joined the Covid-19 list. The teams then played Sunday's game, even though veteran New Jersey winger Kyle Palmieri was sidelined by the protocols, which the Devils announced shortly after faceoff.
The NHL wiped out Thursday's game on Long Island, as well as Buffalo's games in Boston on Saturday and Monday, when Hall and Ristolainen became the first Sabres on the Covid-19 list this season.
..."At this point, it’s not clear to us that there was transmission between teams," NHL deputy commissioner Bill Daly said Tuesday night in an e-mail to The Buffalo News. "The incubation period was shorter than it normally would be. We’ll see what happens in the next couple of days and then perhaps we will have information from which we can draw conclusions."
While the Sabres are understandably upset at the situation, Daly denied one source's claim that the Sabres wanted to postpone Sunday's game and were rebuffed by the league.
"There was one conversation over the weekend where we discussed the relevant facts as we knew them at the time," Daly wrote. "There was no request for, nor serious consideration given to, postponing the games."
This is why one of the NHL's most beloved former players and later team owner referred to it as a "garage league." While the named Sabres players have not necessarily tested positive for the virus, the team's 61-year old coach now has such a result and will be quarantined, and several more Sabres have been added to the no-no list. The rest of their season will be even more compressed now, at best, and may be shortened at worst; considering they have ground to make up to qualify for the post-season if there even is such a thing, that will only be made harder.

Meanwhile, the only thing I tested positive for today was cluelessness.
I'd noticed after shaving earlier today that I'd drawn blood at some point, but I doubled back and the spot I thought I'd nicked was remarkably unbloodied. But by the time we sat down to dinner tonight, Eleanor noticed that I had a nasty spot of the O-positive on my left earlobe. Oops. Not even the doctors in my office noticed (one sitting there, the other on telehealth).
Eleanor's other observation of the day concerned our upcoming weather. Yes, after missing out on all the French Toast fun earlier in the week, it is now, apparently, our turn. And, as she noticed, the Weather Channel alert is SOOOOO helpful:
She showed me that first thing this morning. I immediately pulled the covers back over my head and asked, How's this?
Probably wouldn't have had a bloody ear if I'd just stayed there;)
The thing you have to ask yourself...
