"The New York State Thruway is OPEN, Man!"
Jan. 7th, 2021 02:59 pmAs opposed to after a much larger, peaceful uprising just over half a century ago....
To be honest, when we turned in last night, I wasn't sure what the world, country or immediate environs would look like this morning. But eventually the insurrectionists were beaten back, Congress returned through the dead of night to finish the job they'd set out to do, and social media had at least temporarily shut down the Fanner of Flames from inciting any more rioting.
So turning onto the eastbound 90 for the first time in four weeks was uneventful. The Williamsville toll booths are completely gone, man! Before I left, I wrote a little poem to commemorate the events of the previous day:
You lost.
You lost at the ballot box.
You lost in court.
And now you lost on the battlefield.
You are losers.
Go away now.
Shoo.
Only the hardest of the hardcores are trying to justify or whatabout their way out of what happened. No, it wasn't scary antifas in whiteface. No, it wasn't the same as some BLM protesters knocking over a CVS; just compare the police presences to see THAT difference. Rats are jumping off the sinking ship at top speed. Participants are being outed and fired from their day jobs. Thirteen days to go.
I'm on break between two Rochester appointments. First was pleasant enough, other than me continuing to write 2020 on documents. The other is a routine intake, or will be if the client shows up in two minutes. I'm continuing to get a ton of referrals from the prepaid plan I'm in, so this is proving to be a busy time.
Annnnd.... she's here.
