But six days in to the New Year I notice that I've gotten at least one post up here every day. Sometimes more! It's been a long time since I came close to a daily regimen of this, but the events of last night into tonight make it irresistible not to continue. Maybe the goal will be 365 for the year, if not at least

We turned in last night a couple of hours after the Georgia polls had closed with both contests being neck-and-neck. By morning, the remaining-term seat previously purchased by Kelly Loeffler had already been called in favor of her pastoral opponent, and by midday the six-year seat was called by most pundits for Democrat Jon Ossoff. Which means that, once Kamala Harris takes over the veepship in two weeks, both Houses of Congress will be under Democratic control for the first time since 2014 and President Biden's path to success will be a lot clearer.

First, though, we had to get through the ceremony of today, the pro forma counting of the 51 certificates of electors that make that official. Current Veep and recent loser Mike Pence had already announced that he would not be usurping any magical powers to change the results, but nobody told the angry mob egged on to violence by his boss, which actually Stopped The Count! for a few hours as Proud Boys and other traitors stormed past the three on-duty Capitol Police, broke into the congressional chambers, and almost succeeded in burning the certificates before some alert staffers seized them and wrestled them out of the line of fire.

One FPT supporter is dead and will presumably be canonized as a martyr on tomorrow's Lumpy Hannity Show. Said Former President has had his main social media accounts suspended on the way to being possibly banhammered for good after posting a video that continued to incite the violence begun at his late-morning DC "rally." The certificate count is back on and even the crazier, if not craziest, among the R's are backing down from dragging this on for the rest of the week. Your new President and Veep will be sworn in on schedule on the 20th, and your new Attorney General will figure out who to prosecute for this insurrection.
