At least one Friend of mine has already sent 2011 a formal "You're Fired" notice. At least the old calendar coot was good enough to stick its one last parting shot in the current year, rather than ruining the dawn of the new one as has happened in the past.
Yup, just as we rang in 2006 with a visit from K. Kringle's younger and stinkier brother (Mr. R. Rooter)- the charge for said visit beginning a chain reaction of hell that ended, three months later, with us FINALLY committing to getting our financial house and my law office in much better order- we wound up ending 2011 with more sludge in the cellar....
and once again, away went troubles down the drain. This time we paid cash, and despite telling the guy that we didn't expect a warranty (since we've known since even before the '06 blowup that our pipes are in horrid shape from all the tree roots attacking gthem), he gave us one anyway.
Last time this happened, the repair lasted two weeks; they then re-repaired it, and ran video down the drain to confirm that they couldn't cover repairs any further, and THAT has held up for close to six years.
If that's how it works, where do I sign up to NOT have a warranty?
----
The repair came in 30 whole bucks under budget- not enough for any majorly purchasing or muchly traveling, but it will get us to see Tintin tonight. And we'll hear one of my fellow Met bloggers on the soundtrack!
Presenting Biance Castafiore on Spotify
I think you need to be on the Bookface, and have Spotify installed, in order to get that, but it's worth it:)
Also happy-making-music is Netflix; they've finally acquired Brassed Off, one of our all-time faves. Pete Postlethwaite and Tara Fitzgerald make some damn nice sounds in a coal-mining town:)

Back to work to put more of the misery of this year out of itself.

Date: 2011-12-29 02:39 am (UTC)Brassed Off contains the only version of Danny Boy I can stomach. One of my all-time faves. I'm so sorry we lost Peter Postlethwaite - he was brilliant.
