I am such an idiot. See me blither.
Dec. 26th, 2011 10:42 amI went online just now to drop SHO and add BBC America.
Time Whorer Cable's website was designed by either Rube Goldberg or Erwin Schrödinger. Just paying your bill online is a 12-step recovery program. Finding a channel you want, and adding it to your service? That's more of a commitment to a 20-volume success seminar. Or, rather, one on the subject of FAIL.
I could not add that channel for love or money. It kept sending me back to a separate tab telling me I had to add it as part of a Digital Tier. Many clicks later, I found the offering for that. Look how cool this is! You can rewind and start programs from the beginning! You can look back up to 72 hours and catch a program you've missed!
Wait. I've DONE all this, for Prime Suspect (admittedly, a basic cable offering) and for Dexter (clearly, a premium one). So does that mean....
::goes to Channel 109, sees Top Gear, curses the gods::
Yeah. Right. Now I KNOW I've checked that channel in the past and gotten a "YOU NO GOTS" display, but now I'm thinking that was a cable-box hiccup (sometimes SNY and MSG do the same thing the morning after I've gotten horribly drunk and actually watched a Mets or Sabres game).
So I can now legally watch the Doctor Who Christmas episode I may have seen over somebody's shoulder last night; and the Wait Wait programme; and Sherlock next weekend, more or less in season.
But not QI, says Auntie Bitch. Ah well. Just a few more of THOSE anyway.

Date: 2011-12-26 10:39 pm (UTC)But imagine the sight of my crest falling when I then had this discussion with the kid:
Me: So! Right! Great! Now I can catch up on all the back Doctor Who: Confidentials I never saw!
Her: Um, Dad? They canceled it.
Sigh. FMT.
