One of my finest finds in the past year or so is WRUR, the University of Rochester FM station that's been partnering with their local NPR affiliates in recent years. They simulcast Morning Edition and All Things Considered in drive times, but the rest of the day they run incredibly eclectic programming. In recent weeks, they've introduced me to all kinds of good stuff (and occasional weird stuff), many of which have made it home on actual disks or .mp3 purchases.  The other day, though? It was a Joni Mitchell song from an album of hers titled Both Sides Now, which is not her original version of that tune but a later reimagining of it by her along with a bunch of standards that she recorded.

I asked Eleanor last night if we had it, and we did. She was kind enough to track it down and put the disk on my desk before she left for work in the relative wees this morning.  As the morning progressed, I got to tending to various work things, and I had my computer packed up for a day away before remembering, crap, I forgot to rip the album, so I can sync it to my phone, so I can play it in the car....

Whereupon, an older, forgotten voice piped up:

Or, yaknow, you could put the CD into the car's CD player- you know, the one you haven't used in close to six months:P

Which I did. The album's lovely. The player still works fine (except when going over heavy 90 bumps at high speed).  First world problem solved.

I'll rip it tomorrow.

I love hearing an old song. Such a great feeling. And Joni Mitchell! One of the best.
