No Stockings. No Chimney. No Cares.

The world has pretty much wound down now, for the only day left in this country where La Machine of retail isn't spinning for most if not all of the day. Lights are on only in the churches, the Chinese restaurants, and the occasional Kwik-E-Mart (for that REALLY desperate last-minute shopping).  Eleanor was back in the belly of the beast one last time earlier today, from 7 a.m. until early this afternoon, and lived to tell the tale.

My own last-minute runs were to a hardware store (our bathroom dimmer switch needed replacing) and Office Max (necessary since one coupon expired today and another just showed up online this morning). Around and between, I worked out, laid in one last stash of wine for the long weekend, and listened to the Bills soundly defeat Baby Jesus Tebow. Makes you wonder where these guys were the past eight weeks.

Three church services to choose from this evening, plus one tomorrow morning; I'm not in any of them and we'll probably pick one at random. Pressies are in the house, low-key but love-filled.

Yuletide reveals come tomorrow, The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe will make it in here at some point, and for two blessed days, all will be calm, all will be bright:)

I think my choice is New Year's Eve this year. At least it is the winter holiday of my childhood, and you don't have to be a communist to celebrate it.

Christmas Eve was a very quiet family gathering (featuring my sister and her fiance), for which I was grateful.
