Eleanor already posted about this, but I did have the (now somewhat sandy) phone with me, and got some pictures of a lovely day at the beach, a mere 20 minutes from here. It's on the south tip of Grand Island, which lies in the middle of a wide swath of the Niagara River just before it dumps its entire content over the Falls into Lake Ontario. Not a lot of folks out and about when we got there; mostly lifeguards combing the water's edge:
And more than a few birds standing guard:
(That's Canada over on the oother side, btw.)
The ducks and gulls mostly stayed to themselves at the far end of the beach, but there were occasional signs they'd been by:
And, by the time we left before getting really cooked in the noonish sun, the families and swimmers were in fuller force:
Just a perfect day to be out and away from It All, if only for a little while:)
