To true fans of Britcom, and its American cousin, those letters can only mean one thing:
That Was The Week That Was.
The U.S. version was what introduced me, in very primordial years, to the likes of Tom Lehrer, Buck Henry and Woody Allen, among others. Future M*A*S*H stars Alan Alda and Elliott Gould also appeared, as did Tom Bosley, Mort Sahl, Tom Poston and Elaine May- all of whom went on to greater fame in the later 60s through the early 90s.
For us, though, this was the week that was plenty for us and then some. Among other things, mentioned here and elsewhere previously or not:
* I had early court appearances on four out of five days this week, the first either at 9 or 9:30 each day, and the 9:30s both being in Rochester along with one of the 9's. I got home on each of those days at around 6, 6, 2, and (today) well past 4. None of them ended when I got home, as no fewer than five new bankruptcy petitions either began, continued or completed in those final moments. I filed all of four BK cases in all of 2012; in the past nine days, I've completely or nearly finalized six of them, with at least three more heading for the on-deck circle; and Wednesday broke my personal record for appointments in a single day: eight of them, in three different places.
* We had major contractor contact-ors at the house. Tuesday, three different HVAC companies came through to estimate the cost of moving an outdoor compressor that might, or might not, actually have to be moved. Yesterday, mostly under Eleanor's tutelage, the electricians from last week finished their work (except for the town's inspection of it and the verdict on the compressor move) and we now have a working outlet for Iggy and a new one on the patio for music outdoors.
* Eleanor worked three of the past five days, but today, especially, was a long and stressful one. She experienced her first county audit of their barcode system, which took most of her day and pretty much wore her to pieces.
*Oh, and the kids came home at the end of the day today. It's so good to see them, and they've grown so much as individuals and a couple, but we weren't up to the level of togetherness we'd partially planned (seeing the outdoor production of Hamlet in Delaware Park that ends Sunday- we'll try for tomorrow).
* The grandkitty also came home with them, which is somewhat stressing the other animals, even though she so far hasn't been the Grumpy Cat she was last time around.
All of this is good in the long run, but I, at least, desperately need a day of peace tomorrow, and I'm fixing to get it.
