Three...three...three days of Christmas in one! One for each of the three road trips of 2015, in three different sport venues, and with plenty of friends to go round:)
As with the previous ones, a few words about today: Out the door by 7:30, home barely before 6:30. Some fun in travels, including a food-coma visit to the just-opened Rochester incarnation of Duff's, an old-school Amherst wing joint founded and still located less than two miles from our home here, but mostly driving (to Emily with stuff), dealing (with various clients), and, worst, waiting. Duff's is the Big New Thing in Brighton, thus a 45-minute wait. And an even longer wait was waiting downtown, earlier in the day, as I tried to file court documents; the line consisted mostly of gun nuts getting permits for their brand-new Christmas assault pressies. Some were acting, or wearing pro-NRA gear, of the utterly juvenile variety; I rolled my eyes at the clerk as I turned in my things, and she quietly replied, "Just think how it is to be here every day."
But alas.... forward, into the past!

February: Billy Joel is now off the bucket list. He's done a monthly gig at Madison Square Garden for more than two years now, and February was the earliest I could score tix for. Emily came with, and the first day-and-a-few hours were great. We Amtrak'd right into the Garden's basement, laid in at a hotel round the corner, ate at an Irish pubbish place, and then were serenaded by The Entertainer for more than two hours. From "Miami 2017" to "Piano Man," an awesome night. In the morning, we High Lined and FAO Schwartzed, then, met a friend for a Lincoln Center lunch,...
And finally missed the last train home. It eventually became an adventure, involving a much bouncier three-state bus ride, a coach full of Canadians, and a sloppy snowy final stretch into and out of the Syracuse train station (where our car was and where the bus, fortunately, also stopped).
Emily even got two one-way Amtrak tickets out of the deal, to go back with Cameron before the middle of this coming February. I hope they enjoy:)

A month later, I headed back- solo and by car- for more downstate adventures. There'd been a work commitment in there someplace, but it got canceled before I left but after I'd made the other plans. Including:
* My final trip, and my first since high school, to the Nassau Coliseum, in the Islanders' final season there. They lost, but it didn't affect the Sabres' draft prospects to the bad. I had a great time with LJ friend
greenquotebook and her son, not long before their move back to Jesusland.
* Another old-school LJ friend,
bellavaruka, was in NY for the weekend to see Hedwig with her husband, and we met up for an afternoon at a chocolate bar, the Strand, Chelsea Market, the High Line (again), and a lot of good memories.
----
Finally, my third venue in August- twice. Two Mets games at Citi Field as they were beginning their stretch pennant run. They were 1-1 in the two stops, but both included meetups with Met fans friends old and new, perfect baseball weather, and surrounding experiences. On the first, I began at the Shore Leave con with old friends, met John Barrowman, scored videos for us and Minions earrings for Eleanor, and added a number of phrases to our permanent lexicon.
The second stop was at the end of the month- no other meetups, but great Shake Shack food and up-close views of one of the Mets' best new pitchers who was warming up for Sunday.
----
Shorter trips got worked in, on or apart from those, to Toronto, Ithaca, but not, somehow, Brooklyn. Wait till next year;)
