Ignatz is in Der Haus!
Jun. 24th, 2013 08:30 pmEleanor got the call earlier today. The Smart car has made landfall and is scheduled to be received, prepped and ready for delivery on Thursday morning:)
Of course, this news came to me only after I'd scheduled a boatload of out-of-town appointments for both Wednesday and Thursday, that make it unlikely I'll be able to witness the actual birth. But this is Eleanor's transaction, and I will confirm my role in it (signing over title to the truck) at the dealership tomorrow, and I'll be back in time for the first baby pictures come Thursday late afternoon:)
We got some odd financing letters in today's mail, from the manufacturer's finance company as well as a local bank which turned out to have resulted from an inquiry about whether we could outright purchase, rather than lease, the car. Turned out to be red herrings, since we ultimately stuck with the lease choice. Still- always worth checking, since the bank notice, at least, mentioned nothing about why Eleanor had applied for credit, and we wanted to ensure that it wasn't an attempt at identity theft.
The electrical work should be complete within a couple of weeks; until then, we'll use existing power lines here and elsewhere. Smart has already recommended an app that works on our tablets, which identifies a bunch of stations between here and Rochester, including RIT, a bunch of car dealers, and at least one local (to them) town hall. You have to think this is only going to get bigger and better as time goes on.
It'll be sad to see the Honkin' Yellow Truck go- for a dozen years, it's been a component of who Eleanor is. Yet, I think she'd agree, Ignatz will be even more so:)
