I didn't plan on the day before a nine-hour road trip being a nine-hour day itself, but it wound up close to one. Three court hearings: 9:30, 10 (finished well past 11), and then 3 (not ending till 4 and me not home until past 5). Plus lots of clients calling out of various corners of the blue. It's good that I'll be busy when I'm back, but I have a hard time releasing from the call of the business, and even away messages won't deter all of them.

The four days away are taking more shape now. The Shore Leave schedule is finally up, and most of the Friday things of interest don't really get rolling until early that evening. That means more time to travel, and to check out Charm City's other main charm (seafood) before getting the geek on.

Saturday is pretty full of performers and show panels. None specifically for Orphan Black, but there's a panel titled "Canadian And British Hits In US!" It has an exclamation point so it must be good. Saturday night is usually for dressier things than I plan to get into, so there might be alternative plans for that; I thought about making this a doubleheader weekend with my first-ever trip to see the Orioles at Camden Yards, but rain is in the forecast...

As it is, at least in thundercloud form, for the Sunday afternoon Met event that my Marylander friend Bill and I will be attending. But for that, at least, I went all-access into ticketing near one of the "clubs" that provides cover if the weather gets bad. He will then be mass-transiting back home; I have yet-open plans for Sunday night in the area (depending on who's around and on how long I can keep my car parked at the stadium), but they will end at a hotel in East Orange, NJ....

Which is mere minutes from Bloomfield, where 50-plus years ago, a cousin of my paternal grandmother lived. I'm hoping to do some looking-up in the county seat nearby, and some looking-round in the neighborhood proper to see if anyone remembers "Charlie" from who knows how long ago. I also set my early-Monday dining schedule around that town, since it turns out that Bloomfield is the home of Holsten's, a Jersey institution for fast food and (mainly) ice cream that was featured in the last scene of the series finale of The Sopranos.

A longtime LJ friend just moved to a town about half an hour south of there, while one of my favorite fellow Met bloggers is also a bit to the south, so they should account for lunch-to-early afternoon. From there, it's a quick swing up to I-80, and home, James, lies about six hours from there.

Fortunately, work, next week, isn't looking to be too bad after that. If anyone is in any of those parts or near those routes, just leave me a message (or, in the case of the Garden State, just an exit) and I'll see what we can work out:)
