Sucky day, for the most part. Dodged Spider-traffic in time for court but got stuck there for close to three hours for something that eventually took 20 minutes. Assorted stress followed. Ended the day messing up an appointment.
But at least I didn't leave a gun laying around for my five-year-old son to shoot his two-year-old sister to death with. One I'd gotten him as a gift for his 5th birthday.
Yeah. That happened.
The heartbreaking death of a 2-year-old Kentucky girl who was shot and killed Tuesday by her 5-year-old brother with a rifle he had been given as a gift might lead to criminal charges.
that "Kentucky State Police said Wednesday it is too early to say whether charges will be filed in the case of a 5-year-old boy who accidentally shot and killed his 2-year-old sister."
That was a shift from earlier in the day, when a spokesman for the state police had said it was unlikely any charges would be filed.
"There is still some information that we don't fully understand," Trooper Billy Gregory later said, according to the newspaper. "As the investigation continues and when we finish, I'm sure we'll present the totality of the circumstances to the commonwealth's attorney and then he'll make a decision whether or not to present to the grand jury."
Just what type of charges might be filed is not known at this time.
Ah, but the list is so long to choose from. Child endangerment? Criminally negligent homicide? And hell, you may as well bring the gun company up on consipracy charges since they were shamelessly marketing these things TO kids AS toys in cute shiny colors.
(The website's down, not surprisingly, but the Internet's in ink and you can see Google links to such fun things as their "Kid's Corner" and this happy little Beaver Meat Cleaver getting his hands on his first big dick:
Aww, gee, Mom, just like Wayne LaPierre likes to shoot at the jack-booted ATF thugs!
The Junior G-Man shooter's grandmother was quoted as saying that the killing was "God's will." Hell, if He has one and that's in it, I'd rather the Big Guy just went and disinherited me.
