Check tomorrow's forecast for the 585. Especially that second, smaller, Fahrenheit number:

In about 36 hours, barring additional disaster, I will be outside in all twelve of those degrees, freezing my ass off and screaming away equal quantities of my lungs.

HOCKEY HOCKEY HOCKEY!

That's Rochester's AAA baseball stadium, in which hell has now literally frozen over. The ROC is getting in on the Outdoor Hockey craze that began here a few years ago, with the Sabres and Penguins playing a New Years Day outdoor game atop the Bills' playing field (not like they ever need the stadium in January:P). Now, lots of teams at all levels are getting on this Zamboni of a bandwagon, including one regulation NHL game in Southern California, for crysakes- but this, as you can see, is for realz.  Over the weekend, there will be RIT college games, a Sunday afternoon duel between Sabres and Rochester Amerks alumni, but the one that counts in professional standings is the first one- Friday night at 7, with your Rochester Americans taking on the Lake Erie Monsters of, well, wherever the hell such monsters come from.

And I picked this one, why? Because I have to be there late tomorrow anyway- my part-time office's Happy Holidays Sarah Palin Party starts at 4. It's not exactly Bucket List to see one of these, but if I'm gonna make one of those, given where I've lived more than two-thirds of my life, that bucket ought to be frozen stiff at least once.  I expect it will be sold out- it was down to single-ticket territory by the time I finally got in- and will have quite a bit of exposure on television- the local Time Warner Sports channel carrying it live, and NHL network showing it on Saturday afternoon.

No idea if anyone from the office, or other friends past or present, will be venturing out. If that number goes single-digit, I may just bail myself. But you'll know I made it if you see lots of white-coated photos taken with a chattering camera by this time Saturday morning:)

You call that cold? (See Canadian comments my last post. Have same pic of Hell freezing over inserted in post. Good job of making it an icon.)
