"Very probably, I'm afraid."

Kevin Bacon's got nothing on me.  Follow the bouncing ball.

Earlier today, I had court in Rochester. One of the folks ahead of me was D., who I've known for years, have referred cases back and forth with, is generally a kind soul.

Now skip ahead to tonight. I'm checking Facebook posts, and there's the latest thread from SC- he was a source for my Mets conference paper, and is also a generally good egg. His wife became suddenly hospitalized earlier this week at a Rochester hospital, and while she's not out of the woods, she can see the forest limits from where she is tonight, and sounds stable. Meanwhile, though, SC has another relative 100-odd miles away, who he has to leave town to go visit tomorrow. Hence, a Facebook request: could anyone babysit their kids for the day tomorrow?

My antennae went up. Emily's pretty much Home Alone near his home for a few days; Cam is back here, seeing friends, one of whom, of the military persuasion, is about to be deployed.  So I told SC that if she and they could work out the logistics, I'm sure she'd be willing to watch movies next to her kitten and a couple of kids.

Probably not necessary, came his reply- other friends/rels have covered. But the next response on his Timeline was from D., whose kid is apparently very close friends with one of SC's kids. So she, too, is offering to help.

D. and I have been offline friends for years, but this happenstance capitalized it so we now share Facebook posts. And the first on hers that I saw? Is from one of my law partners from 20 years ago.

The Interwebs, they keep getting smaller and smaller. And I mean that in a good way:)
