Shakespeare Festival
Oct. 30th, 2012 02:02 pmTwo nights ago, we watched Al Pacino as Shylock in Merchant of Venice. Last night into today, at least here, it's been Much Ado About Nothing.
Sandy stayed mostly away. Except for an occasional downpour and some stronger than usual winds, nuthin' special. I kept a window slightly cracked overnight, just to keep an ear on anything to hear. Other than some mild tree-swaying and a periodic wind gust, it was quiet. None of the hideous cracking of tree limbs we endured in '91 and '06. No sirens or strobes. Tasha, easily freaked by an ordinary thunderstorm, slept through the whole night.
When day dawned, it was largely calm out, the sky crisp and mostly blue. Little if anything blew over, off or away.
This is not the Sandy we were looking for. Move along.
So now I'm waiting for 2:00 court with a local opponent. Tomorrow, it's a morning hearing with two guys from Manhattan. I suspect that one might get postponed.
Further afield, by all reports, Emily in Rochester, my sister in Binghamton, and my niece in CT all got through okay. I've yet to hear any major bads from anyone upstate or anywhere in New England.
The NYC metro and mid-Atlantic, though? Perhaps not the worst they could've gotten, but they got far worse of Sandy than we did.
Also, two co-workers from different places, had shit-scary experiences yesterday. One seems okay; the other, definitely not okay. Prayers for both of them, as well.
