Fall has fell, the grass is riz.  Yes, that seems odd, but after a scorching summer, our lawns are greener and thicker than they've been in months.  The sky right now is a gorgeous palette of pink and blue, and there's a definite feel of fall in the air.

Our neighbor's house finally closed yesterday. There's something symbolic about it falling on our 25th anniversary, but I can't quite figure out what the symbolism is, exactly.  The contractors have already started their fixer-upping over there; interior workers were at it not long after I was up, and landscrapers have been ripping out bushes and trimming back trees.

Emily phoned home in a modest panic late this morning; she'd locked her keys in her ignition. I explained how AAA works, and told her I'd come with my extra key if I had to but that I probably wouldn't have to. I didn't; she handled it fine.

Strange that the first half of the Doctor Who season is almost at an end. Last week's brought a beginning of closure to the current Companionship; it'll be interesting to see just how much cliff they hang us with between this weekend and Christmas. And, just as that arc ends (or suspends), Dexter is back this Sunday night:)  I will need to find and rewind last year's finale to try to puzzle out just where that ending is going to put things between Dex and Deb.

Our refinance is still hiccupping along. The guy in charge was out almost all of last week due to some issue that had him hospitalized; I had to talk him through a technical but ultimately benign issue in our own financial health which his undertakers underwriters were balking at, but I think I explained it to everyones' satisfaction. One result of the delay is that rates have gone even further down since we started; we may be looking at a 15-year fixed rate under three percent, or damn close to it.  Win.

Thank yous to everyone who sent kind wishes here, on Eleanor's posts, or both. Our friends help us keep our own friendship strong, and the bonds between so many of you and both of us are important and always touching.

It's not a cliff-hanger-- I was at the advance screening yesterday. No spoilers, but it's a definitive ending, so the expectation is that everyone will tune in at Christmas to see what happens next.
