Actually, if I was playing the "wabbit season" game with Elmer right now, I'd play to lose.
Before I even got out of the shower this morning, I got a call and simultaneous email (ooh baby!) from a guy we just hired for church. As in, yesterday was his first day. Also, his last. He quit after a single day. Even The Hoodie thinks that's harsh. So now it's back to meetings and postings and interviews to try to fill it all over again, barely a month before the big part of his job kicks into high gear for the fall.
Left for my first client meeting 15 minutes or so after that happy news; got home from my last meeting about 20 minutes ago. In between, I had two unexpected appointments with clients on opposite sides of Rochester; messed up the scheduling of the one appointment I thought I did have; got caught in more traffic and weather delays than I ever would have expected; and barely had a minute to breathe the entire day and into the evening.
We did get the first big load of Emily's stuff into the apartment, got the power turned on therein, and picked up a decent-size idiot box for her living room from, oh yeah, the third unexpected client appointment I wound up having during the day. If I can get through tomorrow without too much agitas, I will then have two relatively painless appointments in Rochester early on Thursday afternoon, and I am then OUTTA HERE (by way of OUTTA THERE) until the following Tuesday.
Thus far, I have confirmed friend-sightings more-or-less as follows:
Friday en route to Boston: in Enfield CT at 1 p.m.; other possibilities within an hour or so in any direction of that, still possible into late afternoon if you let me know a when and a where.
Saturday-day: staying with college friends near Wistah (as I'm told it's really pronounced), then off to Fenway with one of them through late afternoon.
Saturday night: is all right for fighting. Also, catching
9thkvius and
thediva_laments that evening, either at or after a performance she's in (I know, I never confirmed, but I'll buy for me and anyone coming-with).
Sun-day: 5king between two Cambridge taverns from 9 to 10 or so, then brunching with ex-East Meadizens round noon. Anyone from here wishing to join any of such fun are welcome.
Later Sun-ner: Into mid-Connect-i-cut, where my niece and grandnephew await for dinner and a much-needed overnight crash.
Final day: Nothing yet planned in 203, 914, 212, 718 or points east on L.I., up until Mets gametime that evening. After all of this, don't especially need to make more, but I'd go out of my way for just about any of yas, so comment or message someplace if you want to eat, drink or, dare I say it?, be Metty.
And then home, as fast as possible by the shortest possible route. Lord only knows who will have quit what by then:P
