On the whole, Nurse Jackie has stayed away from any significant connections to Edie Falco's most famous prior role.

Granted, Eddie, her longtime non-marital main squeeze and perpetual mainline, played a surprisingly horny (and just as surprisingly heterosexual) priest in a Sopranos season. Other than that, though? No morbid obsesity cases involving Bobby- or Paulie Walnuts guest-starring in his Mom's nursing home across the street from Jacks's rehab. The soundtrack has no Sil.

This week, though? We meet her matrimonial lawyer, and it's Aida Turturro, aka Carmela Soprano's sister-in-law Janice.

The casting opens up all kinds of possibilities for the final three episodes and the hopeful Season Five to follow. Doctor Melfi comes on staff to mediate among the various warring employees and their families? Jackie's opening-title coffee cup gets replaced by a side of pork from Satriales?  Or, as the spoiler at the end of this week's episode played out and Boss and Charlie revealed themselves to each other in Our Heroine's presence? Was I the only one who heard "Don't Stop Believing" playing?

Tune in two weeks from now. Just don't be shocked if your screen goes totally black at the end of the finale.

Also: I totally screwed up and thought that this week's Special Guest Star was longtime SNL fave Buck Henry. Turned out to be some dude named Joel Grey, who was probably more famous than his daughter back in 1974, when his character's dementia was set.
