Pi R Hard....
Apr. 17th, 2013 08:32 pmTwo movies came today. One, Eleanor's watching, which I couldn't process at this moment. The other is Life of Pi, which she couldn't watch when the three of us saw it in theater months ago, so I'm finishing its final hour on my computer.
I'm near the end. One line, by the adult Pi, sums up so much of what we are quite possibly going to face tomorrow afternoon, when Tasha has her vet appointment. One we are both going to be at, on account of the difficult choices about her that lie ahead for us.
Pi says:
I suppose in the end, the whole of life becomes an act of letting go, but what always hurts the most is not taking a moment to say goodbye.
That moment will not happen tomorrow. It may not happen for months or even years. But it will not happen until Emily- and Cameron- know about it, agree with it, and have their chance, too, to take that moment with her, with us, and with each other.
