Ya, pretty much church, from 9:30ish until close to 2.  Meetings with up-the-Jacobean-ladder muckety-muck, with a spot of worship tossed in to throw us off the scent of pure BS for a little while.  I was actually tasked with presenting two agenda items, both of which I had done the homework for, but neither of which I was prepared to make an actual presentation on. Muddled through anyway; go me.

To give you an idea how dysfunctional these things can get: the first order of business was naming a recording secretary, which, if nobody did it, would have required the adjournment of the meeting. The task wound up going to an elderly woman (and dear friend of Eleanor's from seeing her round the store), who did the whole deal while tied to an oxygen mask.  Also, the conference, in its infinite wisdom, has decreed that every congregation have a designated liaison to receive and report information on the bishop-level Native American ministries of the denomination. I swear, I would've nominated Emily behind her back just to get us out of there sooner, but another member volunteered to do it, so damn, that A she got in Native American History is just gonna have to go to waste.

And after all that? We're headed back to church- a different one, though. My trainer's sister is singing a set of opera, jazz and Broadway pieces with one Valerian Ruminski, who I'd not heard of before but apparently is not a goon enforcer for the Nashville Predators. No, that dude is named Tootoo. Really. And the Sabres actually did a decent job of beating him back and, just as important, winning the game he got ugly in.
