Ebony is doing a bit better now that she's a full three days into arthritis meds. Her last scrip, dispensed two years ago, officially expires next week, so I'm guessing it's something seasonal.  I picked up the new order yesterday, and after giving her the last of the old pills with her breakfast, an hour or so later I proceeded to start splitting the new pills. (They're pretty horsey-sized and the dosage is half a pill every 12 hours.)

Coffee-less clumsiness being what it is for me, one of the half-pills fell on the floor, and Tasha, the other dog, was there to scarf it in half a second. No harm with that; she's even older and has some mobility issues herself. But: the bottle says TAKE WITH FOOD, so just to be on the safe side, I fetched a slice of pepperoni from last night's pizza fest and let her slog that down, too.

Within 30 seconds, there was a mad rush down the hall from all three cats, wanting in on the omnomnommery. Of course, the only one who wasn't at the party was Ebony, the one I was splitting the damn pills for in the first place.

None of which has anything to do with Stephen Fry. But these do.

At Eleanor's request, I have acquired my first episode of QI. God help me if I get addicted to this, and I probably will.

Also also wik: Our friend [livejournal.com profile] hooton mentioned the other day that the Beeb had just shown a mockumentary about the 1979 Life of Brian kerfuffle, called Holy Flying Circus. She didn't much like it, and, for the first hour or so, neither did I. The six young actors playing the Pythons were spot-on, but they were written way too much to type (Cleese the twit, Michael the nice guy, Terry G the ugly American, etc.), and the in-jokes were way overdone in spots and missed some obvious ones in others.

I'm glad I stayed to the end, though, because its depiction of the actual debate between the Christians and the Pythons was quite good. If anything, it might not have been as completely over-the-top as factual accounts of that particular Friday Night, Saturday Morning show made it out to be. And casting fellow blasphemer Tim Rice as the host of the debate seemed absurd, until I read that the original show had actually done it.

Not sure if I'd recommend it to anyone beyond the hardest-core of MP fans, but I'll toss a copy in the box with the LoB original, if only as a historical curiosity.

Right, the Fry connection. He plays God. Blimey- what else would He play?

QI! Worth getting addicted to. For sure! Compulsory viewing in my book! Especially if you find the QI XL episodes as they're about. 15 mins longer than the standard programme. Also, it's interesting to see what gets left in by the editors when they have those extra 15 mins!

Do you want me to send the first half of the current series now with some random other crap, or wait until I have the whole series in a month and a half or so? Either way works for me.

Also I need an address - FB or email to targaff at gmail would be your best bet.

As it happens I loaded up Series H and the start of Series I, because of the way disc capacity panned out. The other disc also has Planet Word on it, which leaves me with just the right amount for the remainder of I on another disc when I get it (if you haven't already sourced it yourself by then). It's not quite what you want, but it's 18 episodes of QI!

Oh yeah, this is QI XL rather than QI, so ~33% more QI per episode.

Ok, I must hunt down the doc. And Fry as God....HA! Of course in Eddie Izzard skits, God is always played by James Mason.
