captainsblogOne of the local movie chains has announced a revamp of its biggest multiplex, to include something called "D-box motion seating," in which "motion-simulating technology is integrated in the seats and synchronizes movements in the movies with the seats.
This is all sounding suspiciously like the Feel-Around technology pioneered back in the late 70s:
But SRSLY. I know theater chains have to compete with more and bigger in-home technology now, to make the moviegoing experience more outstanding. Still, just as studios have seen fit to 3-D themselves to death over the past few years, I don't see how bigger, stronger, faster toys in the seats will be the answer.
To paraphrase a line once tossed off by Sir Laurence Olivier, "You could try better acting." Or writing, even.
