Well, yeah, I suppose....
May. 19th, 2011 05:54 pmI saw this sign on the way to a client's this afternoon, gracing our very much beloved Frank's Italian place near North Buffalo's Hertel Avenue:

I guess you could take Nephew and turn him into a plate of calamari, but I don't think the side of pasta or the carafe of wine would travel all that well.

On the subject of travel:
Despite being very homebodied for most of the past few years, I've got maybe two opportunities to get away in the next several weeks. For one, we've been invited to see our Friend
bluesilverkdg's new place in Asheville, NC- a part of the country I've always wanted to see. It could be as soon as two weekends from this coming one, and while there are still lots of logistics to work out (whether we or just I would be going, how we'd get there and back and such), I would just love to meet whole bunches of you from that part of the world.
Some of its feasibility may turn on whether my other new possibility actually becomes reality. A couple of days ago, I was briefly consulted about filing a very niche-y kind of bankruptcy proceeding here. That led to a more extended phone conference today, which in turn will now produce another one at the end of the day tomorrow. If it all goes a certain way, I may be briefly engaged to make a court appearance somewhere in the Pacific Northwest, likely sometime in late June or early July.
My Portlandia jokes notwithstanding, that's a part of the country (along with the bordering part of the adjacent country) I've always wanted to see, and there's a whole nuther major crop of OL friends out that way who I'd love to connect with. Lots remains to be seen with this one, too- whether it would be just me or with Eleanor, where we'd fly to, and such- but I wanted to put it Ood there so you knew it was possible.
