(Put on your best Robert Duvall voice as you say that out loud.)

Things were better here yesterday, fumewise. I'd double-laundered the gaseous clothes, largely ventilated the car, and put the computer and gym bags out in the garage for further airing. Yet when I threw on my robe at 5:30 for feeding time, I suddenly reeked of the stuff again.

That's when it occurred to me that hanging the tie and belt I was wearing that day, on the same hook as the robe, might NOT have been the best of ideas:P

Fail. No, not just fail.  Fail and nine-tenths:P

(Thank you all, btw, for the edits on my demand letter. I shall be incorporating all of them, as well as putting in for a new tie and belt and a dress shirt that is now reduced to under-sweater-only wear. I'll keep the gas-stained undershirt for my own special memory of the day:P)

On the subject of edits:

When we went through a rash of car accidents a decade or so ago, my friend Donna replied to the latest of them with some sage advice: Maybe you should just take the bus.

Were I in London, I'd second that emotion and make it the Tube. Where, recently, things have gotten a bit more interesting: present, for your approval, Stickers on the Central Line.

This unknown guerrilla humourist has been printing up, and then perfectly pasting on, a near-daily set of edits to the Lists of Stops that grace the straphanger-eye-level walls of this famed Underground line.  Some of them are a bit obscure from here across the Amy, but I found these particularly delicious and largely without any need of the commentary (which the author does, briefly, provide):

Okay, this one might need some background: it's riffing on Virgin Airlines' taking of pre-orders for flights to the moon someday. What I really don't get about it, though, is why it shows a transfer point as well for the Central line when this IS the Central.

----

Now these, nothing really needed to be said:

(That last one reminds me enough of the RIT cave painting that Emily sent us for me to suggest it to Sticker Guy for a future foray.)

Next, a more ambitious expansion of public transit than we'll ever see in THIS bloody country:

And last, my personal favourite, at least while the afterglow is still on and we still remember what Duchess Whatever's commoner name actually was:

I didn't get the "Royal Line" reference, and actually fell for the notion of London Transport having constructed something new this century, but it's just a figment of the stickerer's imagination. And I swear that hole in the middle is bigger than the others on the line, always a vital consideration when preparing for the next heir.

Want to follow them all? Somebody (not me, for a change) set up an LJ feed for these at [livejournal.com profile] stickerscentral. They may not show up right away, so mind the gaps.
