Wild, wild life
May. 1st, 2011 01:31 pmDuring the last verse of the closing hymn in church this morning (me assisting, and thus up in front for all to see), I had to do an odd little two-step as a spider, grapnelling down from near the peak of the sanctuary roof, plopped himself right in front of my hymnal on his way to the ground. I'd already carted out another of his species during the washing-up earlier in the day, so I wonder if Julie Taymor's already auditioning for the Shea's run of the musical, since they're always lower-budget than the Broadway originals. At least in this case the spiders have better prospects of avoiding death and serious injury than the human actors do.
Then, after Eleanor and I stopped off at Farmers & Artisans for a coupla, we headed the back way toward home, and what was a dude carrying on a portable perch, about to cross South Cayuga, but a fat green chicken?

Once again, we managed not to get a shot of him, making it three straight weeks we've seen an amazing bird on the way either to or from church without capturing the image.
We did, however, get permission of sorts to post a picture of Ben, he who I wrote of last Sunday (and about whom so many of you were equally enthralled):

I gave Mom and Dad a copy of last week's post. I saw smiles and a bit of wibbling. Only fair, because that's what he does to us just about every week:)
