Yesterday and Today
Apr. 7th, 2011 09:20 pmNo Beatles, really, just an update on the past bit-more-than-24 hours of which I'd love to have about half back. And that counts at least an hour spent asleep in one of the weirdest dreams I've had in a long time.
Last night: came in fourth overall in our Biggest Loser-ish fitness competition. Only one other person showed for the final weigh-in, although two got Victorial dispensations to do it earlier due to scheduling conflicts. So essentially, only four of us had the fortitude to make it to the end, out of 15 or so who began in January. Fourth got me a free chiropractic adjustment (which I'll likely give up, since I have several DC clients who'd get mad if I cheated on them) and, more useful, a 25 percent off certificate on pro shop swag. That will make heart-rate monitor watches a reality for the missus and me.
Early today: finally birthed a longtime novel idea from mere drabble into plausible blurb. Got enough encouragement from an initial table read for me to proceed with the actual English martial art of Wri Ting. Last time I did that was a NaNo, which I started with about as much of a seedling and in which, once the words started flowing, the characters and plot twists practically introduced themselves to me with nametags and guided me exactly where I (or perhaps they) wanted me to go. Seeyas in a month with that.
Late this morning: drove to Rachacha for a 1:00 and a 4:00, with filing to do in between. Highlighting the good news, (a) the car seems okay, if rather less pretty than a day ago, and the mileage doesn't seem to be suffering from the whack to the ass; and (b) the 107.7 Lake broadcast DOES stream on the Flycast app, so I can still listen in the car, which is pretty much the only place I ever listened anyway.
Afternoon: defective. Place in original packing material and call for a RMA number. The 1:00 hearing took well over two hours to get to me and my client. Nice enough guy in charge, but new, and painfully slow. So help me, he asked one (somebody else's) debtor how much a BLENDER was worth. He held us for last, and I was afraid I'd done something wrong, but ultimately he commended us for our prompt and complete advance disclosure of all relevant information. Pity that didn't translate into getting out sooner.
Then missed closing time at Other Court by about five minutes, so me and my filing headed out for my 4:00, several minutes late. Fortunately, they were well taken care of in my absence, and it went quickly once we got under way. I ended the rounds delivering some stuff to Em at the Student Activities Union at RIT, almost having actual dinner with her (she had an evening class and had to take it to go), but it was good seeing her.... even if she will, quite probably, be home for the weekend by this time tomorrow.
Finally, for anyone who didn't see it when first late-posted to my originally comment-locked entry (stupid LJ app:P), I again leave you with Teh Kittez' family meeting of late yesterday morning, this time with agenda duly LOLCATted:
