Somehow I got hornschwoggled into feeding the animals at 5:25 this morning, so hi!

I woke up from an alarming dream- that I, little ol' sole proprietor me, had been hired to file a Chapter 11 for my bank, the biggest one still based here, because all the usual big ones had major conflicts and/or were owed major jack that they weren't willing to waive in order to continue representation. (Never mind that banks can't file ANY kind of bankruptcy in this country. It's my dream and I'm sticking with it.) All of a sudden, I'm arranging plane flights and trying to second-guess the greenmailing minority stock owner who this filing was meant to stymie, and my suddenly existing staff was all up and around preparing draft after draft and.... woofmeow.

Even so, I think I'll stop in at the branch today and ask the manager if he can refer me to whoever assigns their creditor-rights work. Because hey.... ya never know.

----

LJ's been slow and slower all morning, after several hiccups over the weekend (the site seemed okay, but video embeds, which they store the code for at LJ-toys.com, were hit-or-miss), so I'm likely to be cross-posting more from, and maybe in the end migrating completely to, my samey-namey blog at Dreamwidth.  I checked, and over the past months I've accumulated eight whole invite codes! One is reserved for the Beloved, but the first seven to say yes! get them.

[Poll #1726671]

I'll likely be beginning the weaning from here by using their cross-post function, as I did yesterday. It's a bit of a pain, especially if you forget to do edits there first, but we'll see how it goes.

Sabres won! Mets won! Disk One! (of Slings and Arrows) has been located and should be here by tomorrow!

I registered on Dreamwidth as soon as they opened up, but I really don't use it. The population there is so small that I rarely think to check for entries. I like it when people have rss feeds or automatically crosspost here, but if the person disables comments on LJ and forces me to go over to Dreamwidth and log in to comment, the net effect is that I stop commenting, just as I do on all external websites that require a bunch of clicking before I can say whatever unimportant thing I was going to say. The impulse passes before I finish jumping through the hoops. From my perspective moving to Dreamwidth's about equivalent to moving to freestanding blog, and there are about three freestanding blogs I visit on a regular basis. The handy networking functions on LJ (having everyone aggregated on the friends list, already being logged in so it's easy to comment, etc) are what make it useful to me, but without a critical mass of people on Dreamwidth there's no similar benefits, even though they have the structure in place. I suppose I'd jump ship if LJ actually sank, never to rise again, but I do have the permanent account here :/.

I'd make an effort to read your blog, wherever you put it, but inertia can be difficult to overcome.

[livejournal.com profile] platypus has summed it up so perfectly that all I can do is point upwards and say, "Ditto."

Apparentl;y there's an overload-attack (damned if I can remember the real name -- denial of services?) overwhelming LJ jsut now. Fraking breakers.

I have no idea why, but so many people are founding Dreamwidth accoutns as well that I'd like one just to keep up with them all. I intend to keep *posting* here, as long as there's a "here", but if half of everyone s in the bar across the street, I at least need a locker there.

That's the worst metaphor I have ever written.

While I have a DW in the same name and crosspost there myself, I don't check my reading list there nearly as often, so I'd definitely appreciate an RSS feed or crossposting! :-)

You can add [livejournal.com profile] captainsblog_dw to your LJ friends page and that should get you any not cross-posted...

which, depending on how many of these DDOS-bombs get launched in coming days, may become my default way of proceeding anyway.

Sad face. :-( I tend to lose touch with people who don't post on LJ, but I am glad to have access to you via Facebook.

Access to you. That just sounds...somehow wrong.

Oh, you'll need to have me dragged away kicking and screaming before I'll let you lose sight of either of us.

I will only make this move if these delays and bombings turn into the rule rather than the exception. And what would be the point then, anyway, if half the time you couldn't read here?

Plus, I've got my dreamyweedy blog syndicated here- add [livejournal.com profile] captainsblog_dw to your friendspage and about the worst you'll get is a double-viewing of something I've crossposted.

Much as I love you and Plantmom, I'm pretty sure about what would happen if you moved to Dreamwidth. I'd bookmark your blog, promise myself I'll check in regularly, but it will increasingly wait until I get around to it. And slowly, inexorably, I'll never see you again.

Nononono.

Just add [livejournal.com profile] captainsblog_dw to your friendspage (and the plantmom equivalent of that when I set that up) and about the worst you'll get is a double-viewing of something I've crossposted.
